5K a year Immediate full-time opening in the Juvenile Justice Reform Grant for an Employment Specialist/Education Specialist.
This is a remote position.
It will cover the northern counties - Macon, Smith, DeKalb, Clay, Jackson, Putnam, White, Overton, Pickett, Fentress, Cumberland.
Candidate must be residing in any of the counties listed.
DUTIES /
Responsibilities:
Complete training and certification for the evidence-based practice Individual Placement and Support (IPS) within the first 6 months of employment.
Provide IPS supported employment services to clients from an 11 county area.
With the client's permission, provide education and support to family members and other client-specified contacts about work.
Gather input regarding skills, interests, strengths of the client and ideas for support.
Help clients think about long-term employment goals, work history, strengths, personal culture (as defined by each person), justice involvement, and other factors that relate to a current vocational goal.
Complete career profile for each new client with information from the client, mental health practitioners, and with permission, family members or past employers.
Update the profile with each new job and education experience.
Develop an individual employment plan with the client to include input from the JJR team and family support network.
Incorporate information about the person's culture (as defined by each client) as related to work and education.
Update the employment plan quarterly or when there is a change in employment or education status.
Conduct job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the people on his/her caseload, following the principles and procedures of IPS.
Provide education and support to employers as agreed upon by clients, which may include negotiating job accommodations and follow-along contact with the employer/educator.
Provide individualized follow-along supports to assist clients in maintaining employment.
Provide frequent in-person supports during the first month of a new job and at least monthly after working steadily, as desired by clients.

Work closely with JJR team to support integration of needed employment and education services into service plan, including development of post JJR employment-related supports as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, and abilities):
Ability to refer and connect grant recipients with resources.
Knowledge and skills to teach and engage in basic problem solving strategies.
Ability to communicate effectively and work well independently and as a team.
Ability to complete and turn in all paperwork as required by the grant.
TRAVEL REQUIRED.
EDUCATION/
Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in social services or vocational field.
Experience working with youth, employment services, or juvenile-serving systems preferred.
Ability to work as an effective team member is essential.
